Filson has been making dependable outdoor goods since 1897, when C.C. Filson opened his original store in Seattle to outfit prospectors heading toward the Klondike Gold Rush. From the beginning, the company focused on clothing and equipment capable of handling cold, wet weather and demanding terrain. That heritage continues to shape Filson's approach to outdoor clothing and gear today.

The Filson collection spans rugged outerwear, shirts, sweaters, pants, jeans, vests and field clothing for men and women. Its outdoor assortment also includes hunting, fishing, rain gear and base layers. Signature materials such as Mackinaw Wool, Tin Cloth, Rugged Twill and heavyweight flannel remain central to the brand's identity.

Mackinaw Wool is one of Filson's most recognizable materials. The dense wool fabric is designed for warmth, wind resistance and repeated hard use, and the Mackinaw Wool Cruiser traces its design back to a 1914 patent created for foresters. The Cruiser remains one of Filson's best-known outdoor garments.

Tin Cloth provides another important part of the Filson story. The tightly woven waxed cotton was developed for protection in the wet forests of the Pacific Northwest, combining water resistance with resistance to punctures and abrasion. Modern Tin Cloth products include jackets, pants, bags and other outdoor gear.

Filson also has an extensive collection of bags and luggage, including backpacks, duffles, totes, briefcases, dry bags and travel accessories. Heritage Rugged Twill, Bridle Leather and waxed Tin Cloth give many of these bags the same utility-focused character found throughout the clothing collection.
